CONSERVATION

We had a very unusual winter! The result is much less water stored as snow in our mountains this year.  Because we have good wells, we don't expect to restrict watering, but we ask you to use water very wisely this summer.  Here are some tips.

Getting Ready for Spring and Summer Watering

  • Wait to start watering lawns! We will have a few warm days, but overall temperatures will be cool at least through the end of April. Wait as long as possible before turning on your sprinklers

  • Check sprinkler heads, connections and stop and waste for leaks. There have been some mighty big leaks on the customer side in the last couple of years that have wasted a lot of water.

  • Check automatic timers/watering systems (less water is needed than you may think).

  • Water during evening and night-time hours - not during the heat of the day.

  • Don't let your grass completly die -- it takes more water to revive a dead lawn than to keep it moderately green, however get used to a few dry spots.

Most of these programs are only available in large water districts like Salt Lake and Utah County.  We are on a list to be notified if they become available here.

We recommend waiting a little longer to start watering your lawns. Our temperatures are still cool and we have received moisture recently.  We have no restrictions at this time.
